Naxen is a German trio playing classic "Norwegian" style BM with doom passages, which in my opinion adds a twist to the oh-so-stomped-chosen-path of the so-called 2nd wave black metal horde. It's almost too slow at times for me, but I can really appreciate the technical prowess from these relatively new guys. The second part, I agree, is where they really stand out! Full on assault on the subject. I love everything about this album. The use of the Russian propaganda message of the Eastern front in Stalingrad, Massengrab, together with the sound of roaring Stuka's and thunderous bombs portrays the chaos of warfare better than any other black metal band I have heard so far.
Very much a recommended album. Argeodeema
I bought this album having never heard, or heard of, these guys. I ain't finding no blackened crust in this. What I am finding is some really good blackened emotive hardcore. They kind of remind me of a Have Heart with some trem-picked, blast-beaten parts. Good album. drumsofdoom
